Medical Plant Research Center, headed by Dr. Mahmoud Rafieian-kopaei, was established in 2007 and in September 10, 2008 was principally approved by Council of the University and on May 13, 2013 was definitively approved.
The center started and still continues its activities with the goals of developing and implementing human knowledge in the field of science, carrying out basic research and clinical epidemiology, collecting and classifying documents, papers and documents and publish them, the training of researchers, encouraging and promoting the use of researchers, trying to attract attention and cooperate with research and executive centers within the country, and scientific cooperation with other countries and international organizations, and research and educational centers.
Given that, the use of medicinal plants for treatment coincides with the date of human life, Man has had no choice but to resort to plants in all ages for treatment. Although in the past half century, the use of synthetic and chemical drugs has found prevalence, their quick harmful effects on life made re-inclination to medicinal plants. Climate variability in Iran has caused the growth of plants with varied medicinal properties.
Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari mountainous temperate climate and relatively reasonable rain have caused the growth of many medicinal plants in this region. These issues strengthen the ongoing activities of the center to research in this area. The main research areas in center will include studying Therapeutic and Pharmacological effects of Medicinal Plants in multiple Animal and Clinical Models, Teratogenic and Toxic Effects of Plants, Standardization and Identification of the Active Ingredients of Plant and Phytochemistry Studies, and Isolation and Identification of Plant Molecular Structures. Given the extensive research activities of the center as well as laboratory equipment, the center is ready to offer cooperation in the fields of laboratory and consulting services.
