Department of Pediatrics, Psychiatric & Health Nursing 
 
History:
Department of pediatrics, psychiatric & health nursing was founded in 1986.
This group, from the beginning of the establishment, has provided nursing lessons, community health, pediatric nursing, and psychiatry education and related training for undergraduate nursing, midwifery and operating room students. The group currently has 6 faculty members, including 1 associate professor, 2 assistant professors, and 3 faculty members with master degrees.
 
Philosophy of the department of pediatric, psychiatric & health nursing:
Education and training of empowered and committed students in order to promote the health of the community with a holistic approach to meeting the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patients with an emphasis on maintaining the mental health of individuals. Also, students’ preparation to care for individuals throughout their lives, partnerships with individuals, families, and communities in order to strengthen health and well-being. Students' education in order to promote the level of health of children and infants of the society by observing a community approach to meeting the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs associated with diseases of children and infants in order to improve the quality of their care.
 
Calling:
Training and empowerment of graduates of nursing, midwifery and operating rooms, especially nursing, to provide nursing services to clients with mental disorders. Training and empowerment of nursing graduates to provide services to children and infants to provide and maintain community health promotion with emphasis on family-based care. Training competent and thoughtful nurses for the development of health and welfare of people through health education and care of vulnerable groups, responding to community health needs, providing education and providing solutions for community health problems.
 
General Purpose of Pediatric, Psychiatric & Health Nursing:
Training of graduates as members of the health team who are able to provide health care, educational, research and support services for the provision, maintenance and promotion of child and infant and patients with mental disturbances. They should also have the ability to develop the health welfare of people through health education.
 
Educational Goals:
1- Creating theoretical and practical ability in students to provide services to children and infants, psychiatric patients and health education to community members.
2- - Using new technologies in teaching and increasing the level of students' access to theoretical and clinical educational goals.
3- - Improving the health of the child, the infant, and the family by taking the necessary interventions within the framework of family-based care
4- Planning of care for children and infants based on the nursing process and collaboration with other members of the health team at different levels and prevention.
5- Constant assessment of the progress of learners in achieving the educational goals of the group through the new evaluation methods.
6- Reviewing the content of the curriculum and the lesson plan related to the psychiatric, pediatric and health education groups.
 
Research mission:
Developing and expanding research culture among students in order to extend the knowledge boundaries in the area of mental health and promoting mental health, community, and childcare through research on mental health, community health and nursing of children, and providing opportunities for the creation and development of the spirit of collective participation in conducting research activities in groups and between groups.
 
Research Goals:
1. Creating research capabilities for students in order to participate and contribute to the health system and promote knowledge for community health education and identification of health problems.
2- Promoting nursing knowledge, especially psychiatric nursing, by conducting research activities by faculty members and students.
3- Creating research capabilities for students to participate and cooperate with the health system in the implementation of mental health research.
4- Training and preparation of nursing students and graduates to identify the research priorities of mental health, their professional challenges, clients' needs, the interdisciplinary challenges in the mental health field, efforts to reduce challenges and provide appropriate suggestions.
5- Updating the information of nurses, especially psychiatric nurses, through research in different areas of mental health.
6- Training and preparation of nursing students and graduates to identify the research priorities of nursing children and infants
 
Clinical Calling:
Training nursing graduates with clinical skills in order to provide psycho-nursing services to all sectors of society at three levels of prevention, as well as developing a positive attitude and vision in students toward their profession; training of students who are familiar with the system of specialized and clinical services delivery in three levels of prevention and health care based on the focus of physical, psychological, social and spiritual prevention; as well as the training of nursing graduates with clinical skills in order to provide nursing care to children and infants.
 
Clinical Goals
1) Improvement of student clinical skills in providing nursing care to patients with mental disorders, child care, and newborns, and providing health education to community members.
2) Providing educational and counseling services to various people in order to achieve health.
3) Improving the clinical skills of clinical students and identifying their strengths and weaknesses.
4) Promoting the provision of clinical services to clients through the development and improvement of clinical education of learners
5) Planning and implementation of scientific and practical training and observation courses in world educational centers
6) Identifying barriers to clinical skills and planning to overcome obstacles
7) Promoting the provision of clinical services to patients through the development and improvement of appropriate clinical education for nursing students.
