Social Determinants of Health Research Center
About The Center
The social determinants of health affect more than 50% of the illnesses, diseases and deaths in the world. According to the available evidence, the main health inequities are the result of the effects and non-symmetrical consequences of these social factors on the health of the people. Today, health outlooks have become more widespread and necessarily focused on determinants of non-medical health. Each of these determinants, by themselves or through their influence on each other, greatly affects the health status and causes inequities in health. These determinants, such as inheritance, lifestyle, environment, socioeconomic status, etc., have a significant impact on their health and health, including quality of life. Although medical care can lead to a lifetime or recovery from a serious illness, what is important to the health of the population is the socioeconomic conditions that make people sick or need medical care. In other words, social factors affecting the health of people such as income, education, occupation, nutrition, social class are more likely to cause diseases than biological factors, and they have a significant role in human health if they are neglected to achieve goals Health and justice in health. On the other hand, the role of health in promoting human development indicators is irrefutable. Therefore, the fight against factors (social) that affects health and also causes inequities in health are in fact the priorities of all branches of society and also the most important tasks of the state.Societies with millions of children and adults who can not live productively and fruitfully will not be sustainable. The conditions in which people grow, live and work, and the age of people is all affected by their health. Inequality in this situation leads to inequalities of health. Fortunately, the vast majority of these inequalities in health, both internally and internally, are avoided. Success in improving health and reducing these inequities depends on the serious consideration of its underlying social causes. Technical solutions within the health sector are also very important, but we must note that these solutions are not enough. Paying attention to the determinants of social determinants of health also require more extensive work areas and more sustainable measures. Social issues and problems such as poverty, unemployment and illiteracy are definitely a problem in all countries of the world with varying dimensions, and certainly this is the ultimate goal of all governments to find the right solution to overcome barriers and create prosperity, security and health of their people. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the leading countries in the field of combating the destructive effects of these social determinants of health since 2006, has started the work of the Commission on Social Factors Affecting Health at the World Health Organization, establishing the Secretariat of the Social Factors Affecting Health at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Also, in 2011, the network of research on health determinants has been approved.
