The Acting Treatment Vice-chancellor of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences announced the first Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) surgery of the abdominal aorta in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province.

Explaining this news, Dr. Rasoul Rahimi said: The abdominal aorta Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) surgery was successfully performed for the first time in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province by Dr. Mohammad Moeini Farsani, a vascular surgery superspecialist, and Dr. Mehdi Forati, a cardiac intervention fellowship.

He added: This operation was performed for 3 hours in the angiography department of Shahrekord Hajar Hospital and the patient was discharged in good general condition.

Dr. Rahimi stated that before, abdominal aorta surgery was performed as an open surgery and added: The advantages of the new method include fewer complications and less time spent in the hospital.

He added: This disease often appears genetically and in people with chronic hypertension, which, if surgery is not performed on time, leads to the rupture of the abdominal aorta artery and death.

It should be noted that, now, with the equipment and superspecialized staff at Shahrekord Hajar Hospital, this surgery is available for patients in the center of the province and is ready to provide services to applicants.
