BIOGRAPHY

Seyed Abbas Mirzaei, born on 22 Dec 1977, is holding an Associate Professor position in the Department of Medical Biotechnology at Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences. He completed his PharmD degree at Kerman University of Medical Sciences in the pharmacy faculty in 2002. He mainly worked on the synthesis of new anti-malarial agents during the pharmacy doctorate degree. Afterward, He continued pharmaceutical biotechnology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences for Ph.D. level. His research projects mainly focused on molecular cloning and enzyme purification and characterization as well as cloning of eukaryotic cells in the faculty of pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, University Medicine Berlin, and also Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP-Berlin). He has over six years of industrial experiences in pharmaceutical companies as quality control and quality assurance manager. Since September 2010, he has been employed as the University Professor on a full-time basis at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences and Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences. His major responsibilities were teaching, training, and supervision of post-graduate and graduate students; guiding, leading and mentoring students in research projects and theses; extensive activities in education development organization; supporting and participating in department and school activities and committees.
He has received numerous awards, professional honors, and nominations during the scientific career including 1st place President's Award for Educational Excellence in "Pharmaceutical Comprehensive Exam" (1999), 1st place President's Award for elite pharmaceutical students (2002), 1st place Academic Excellence Award for 18th PhD entrance exam (2006), 1st place Academic Excellence Award for 3rd "National Board Exam" (2008), 1st place President's Award for Educational Excellence (2010), National Excellence Award in Research from Ministry of Health and Medical Education (2016), Faculty Teaching Excellence Award for 7 continuous years (2010-2018), President's Research Excellence Award (2018), and President's Teaching Excellence Award (2019).

RESEARCH INTERESTS
I studied pharmaceutical sciences and gain knowledge to how a pharmaceutical biotechnologist makes sense of the disease treatment and prevention. In particular, I am interested in Drug design, Genetic engineering, Protein Sciences, Cancer treatments, and Nanobiotechnology.

TEACHING INTERESTS
My education career and the research area represent my teaching interests. I mainly focus on Genetic engineering, Pharmaceutical biotechnology, Protein engineering and purification, Enzyme kinetics, Bioinformatics, and Mathematical models in biological processes and fermentation.
