The Scientometrics Unit of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences started to work in 2011 in affiliation to Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of the University. This unit aims to take steps in the direction of quantitative and qualitative improvement of scientific productions and raising the scientific status of the University, and by extension the country through continuous review and evaluation of the scientific productions of the University and affiliated research centers and units.

• Continuously completing and updating the information of academic staff members in the scientometrics system;
• Informing and promoting the use of the scientometrics system;
• Modifying, integrating and editing the information of academic members in the scientometrics system of the Ministry of Health;
• Preparation, publication and distribution of periodic scientific reports from academic members and researchers;
• Monitoring scientific productions of faculty members in faculties and departments;
• Holding workshops and scientific training courses for faculty members;
• Continuous information about the correct and complete writing of the name of the University;
• Introducing and informing the academic staff about uncredited and lowly-credited journals;
• Introduction of authentic journals according to educational programs to guide publications;
• Monitoring the national and international rankings of the university in international ranking systems and continuously taking the necessary measures to improve it;
• Seeking to improve the visibility and usability of articles;
• Citation analysis of the University’s scientific productions;
• Determining scientometric evaluation methods and checking the updated knowledge on scientometrics;
• Definition of scientometric indicators, and estimation and analysis of information related to them.
