The Vice-Chancellor of Education of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Morteza Dehghan, announced the admission of the first group of undergraduate students in the major of physiotherapy at this university.

Explaining this news, Dr. Meissam Sadeghisani, the director of the department of physiotherapy, stated: At the beginning of the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, the first group of undergraduate students in the major of physiotherapy including 12 students (4 males and 8 females) were admitted to the School of Allied Medical Sciences of the Rahmatieh education campus of the Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences.

He added: These students will be trained with the newest and most up-to-date educational and therapeutic equipment purchased in the field of physiotherapy.

Dr. Sadeghisani said: The books needed for students in the major of physiotherapy have also been purchased and made available.

He continued: To meet the needs and improve the educational and clinical level, it has been planned to establish 4 physiotherapy medical training centers in Shahrekord, including 2 specialized physiotherapy centers in the fields of neurology and heart and lungs, and 2 general rehabilitation centers for the gynecological, cancer, and pelvic problems.

He clarified that, currently, the physiotherapy department is in charge of training students with 3 faculty members, and soon 2 more faculty members will be recruited in this field.

Dr. Sadeghisani said: Having graduated after 4 years of education in this field, these students will be able to provide prevention and treatment services for musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, neurological, and metabolic diseases to the target community.

He reminded that the follow-up of receiving permission to admit students in the professional doctorate course in physiotherapy is also underway.

According to him, the induction ceremony of the new students of this field of study was held on February 12th, 2024 in the presence of the adviser and head of the office of the university's chancellor, the director of the department, and the dean of the School of Allied Medical Sciences.

In this meeting, a report on the stages of launching the field, educational programs, goals and missions of students, educational regulations, and group programs for the development of the field and educational and clinical improvement for students was presented.

In the end, the director of the department of physiotherapy of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences congratulated the success of the university in admitting students for the first time in the field of physiotherapy and said: Launching this field in the university is the result of almost a decade of efforts of all university colleagues in different periods and areas of presidency, vice-presidency, collegiate, and hospital and extracurricular activities, which is commendable.
